Already a leader in developing eco-friendly products and green business practices, Aveda has partnered with New York Fashion Week designers Thakoon, Temperley London, Rodatre, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Ports 1961 and Mark Bouwer to create a backstage environment that will take on a bit of a green glow…

It's not the lighting, hair color or makeup – the hit of green will come from the backstage vibe. New York City tap water will be served, instead of bottled water, and Aveda™ will provide reusable non-toxic aluminum water bottles. “Bottled water is a luxury at the expense of the Earth,” says Chuck Bennett, vice president of Earth and Community Care for Aveda. “Of the more than 2.5 million bottles of water Americans consumer each hour, only around 10% are recycled; the rest go to overflowing landfills. Plastic water bottle production also has a significant carbon imprint, drawing upon 1.5 million barrels of oil each year.”

In addition, the participating designers have agreed to serve organic and locally grown food back stage. And there won't be any fur in their collections either.
