Full disclosure here – Girlawhirl considers herself to fall right in the middle on the perspiration continuum. It's not like she never sweats, but she's never considered herself one who perspires profusely. So the idea of changing from an antiperspirant to a deodorant wasn't all that big of a deal.

On her next trip to the health food store, she grabbed a few deodorants to try – one called itself a “liquid crystal,” which alludes to the crystal that's sold as a natural deodorant. Others were sticks and gels. She brought them all home and started testing.

Hands down, her favorite came from Tom's of Maine: the Natural Long Lasting Deodorant Stick in a Lemongrass scent. Usually Girlawhirl prefers something unscented, but since she was experimenting – and lemongrass reminds her of her travels in Thailand – she gave it a try. (There are plenty of other scents and an unscented option as well.) It went on smoothly – sort of like a lightweight gel. The scent was authentic, light and really didn't linger for long, and she felt no different throughout the day than she did when she had been wearing a more conventional chemical antiperspirant. It's been a part of her routine ever since. 

But now, with the introduction of Lavanila's Healthy Deodorant, Girlawhirl's found a more luxurious option that's full of healthy ingredients and just as effective as a more traditional deodorant. It uses a new ingredient in deodorant application – Propanediol, which is what lets it smooth right on. It's a healthy alternative to Propylene Glycol used in traditional products and the glycerin other natural products use.
