It’s been the mission of Charity: water since it began in 2007: to bring fresh water – through the drilling of wells – to everyone. And with almost 3,000 wells dug, over 1.2 million people now have access to clean water, through the work of the organization and its local partners.

September is a special month for Charity: water, it’s the month that it all began when founder Scott Harrison asked his friends not to give him birthday presents, but instead to help build wells in Africa from where he’d just returned traveled to. And so, every year he asks all September babies to do the same – and it’s turned into the biggest fundraising month of the year.
