Recently while checking out her local bookstore, Girlawhirl was drawn to a bright red book with a title so eye catching that she had to bring it home with her. Written by Jonny Bowden, Ph.D., C.N.S., it's called The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth… Girlawhirl already knows that greens are great for her and the more whole unprocessed food she consumes, the better off she is. But after reading this book she found out that she still had a lot to learn. She had banned beef from her kitchen and her diet, but Bowden showed her that grass-fed beef that's high in fat burning CLAs (conjugated linoleic acid), omega-3s and a good source of zinc and vitamin B-12 is more than okay to eat.
She learned that quinoa is just as versatile and even higher in nutrients than her go-to grain - brown rice – and it cooks a lot faster too! She also learned that she can snack on a small handful of nuts or pumpkin seeds pretty much guilt free, and she no longer has to order egg-white only omelets when she's out for brunch.This is a book that Girlawhirl not only read cover to cover, she knows she'll keep coming back to it as she adds so many of these powerhouse foods to her diet.
