Once again, science has proven that nature has provided the human race with just about everything we need to thrive. The latest and greatest “discovery”? Coconut Water…

A mainstay of the tropics, where rehydration is of the utmost importance, Coconut Water is just making its way to health food and grocery stores in the United States. Unlike coconut milk, it's not thick and creamy and has no fat, along with just has a hint of coconut flavor. And it's packed with electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, and calcium.

Girlawhirl's local health food store carries the Vita Coco brand, which also makes a version that's mixed with pineapple juice for a pina colada like treat. Her gym carries the O.N.E. brand, so she can usually find one when she needs a little pick me up after a workout.

Coconut Water has about the same calories as a typical sports replacement drink, but it's all natural and contains a lot more potassium in addition to the magnesium, phosphorous and calcium that don't show up on the label of a drink like Gatorade.
