the “write the story about mrs. Butterworth” contest can help fund a child's education
the grand prize is a $5000 savings bond to go towards college!
Sep 22, 2008
Girlawhirl's favorite part of staying with Super Pals who have kids is the morning breakfast ritual. In her non-stop life, she barely has time to make herself coffee as she runs out the door, but when hanging out with the kids, only a full-blown breakfast will do. But more than just a hearty meal, Girlawhirl loves the group effort to put the meal together. One child mixes, while another measures. Mom handles the bacon and Girlawhirl pours the pancakes. It's truly a special treat for her. And Mrs. Butterworth wants to hear all about it, giving kids a chance to be a published author and win a $5,000 savings bond…

A $5,000 US Savings bond can go a long way for a child's education. That's why Girlawhirl is encouraging all of her Pals to get their short-order cooks in training to enter the Write the Story About Mrs. Butterworth Contest.

Mrs. Butterworth – in cooperation with Scholastic – wants kids ages 7-12 to submit a 400 word story describing their family's breakfast traditions online at mrsbutterworthsyrup.com by December 1, 2008 for the chance to become a published author and win the US Savings Bond and $100 worth of Scholastic books! They can add photos or illustrations to their stories, but no personal or identifying photos will be accepted.

In addition to the grand prize, 10 finalists will also each receive a $500 US Savings Bond and a supply of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup.
