dinner in the sky could scare girlawhirl to death! Mar 21, 2008

Girlawhirl has never been one to cower from an adventure over a fear of heights. When something frightens her she weighs the options, and usually comes to the conclusion "you only live once." But a dinner party that takes place suspended high above the ground, at a table strapped to a crane? It might be too much for even her to handle... Hanging more than 164 feet above the ground, suspended from a crane isn't exactly the setting Girlawhirl would picture as an ideal dining experience. But for the people behind Dinner in the Sky, nothing could be better.
What Dinner in the Sky is calling "an extra-ordinary experience with a culinary touch" is a personal restaurant that brings some of the most incredible skylines in the world right to this dinner table for 22. Twenty-two securely strapped in diners that is. And if dinner for 22, 16 stories above the ground somehow seems lackluster - a second crane can also be hired to provide live dinner music or a performance... really anything goes.
A chef and two assistants working in the middle of the table serve everything from sushi overlooking the vistas of London, Dusseldorf, Lisbon and Johannesburg to a steak dinner perched high above a stadium so the party can cheer on the home team or catch a bird's-eye view of their favorite concert. With this mobile dining room anything is possible.
Dinner in the Sky says their first concern is safety and that's why everything - the crane, the table, the chairs - goes through a rigorous inspection process to pass the German TUV, which Dinner in the Sky calls the "toughest security certification in the world."
Girlawhirl absolutely loves that Dinner in the Sky takes dining alfresco to a whole new level, but she still thinks she'll have to take a deep breath if she's ever offered the opportunity to dine up high.
