With this morning's rising of the Dog Star – called Sirius – the Dog Days of Summer have officially kicked off in the Northern Hemisphere. The Dog Days run for 40 days. They are the hottest and supposedly driest days of the year and were given the name by the ancient Greeks…. Some almanacs have the Dog Days starting a little bit later in July, but Girlawhirl's pretty sure of one thing – when it's hot and dry outside, all she wants to do is relax.
