it's friday the 13th, but girlawhirl's not scared

Girlawhirl tries to live her life superstition free. But she'll be the first to admit she catches herself saying “I should have known” when she stubs her toe or spills coffee on her suit only moments after a black cat has crossed her path. For the most part though, she tries to keep a clear mind when it comes to superstition, preferring to believe she is fully in charge of her own destiny. That is of course until Friday the 13^th rolls around. Not that fear rules her day, but she certainly keeps an extra attentive eye towards what's going on in the universe…

She's already done some research on Friday the 13^th, so Girlawhirl knows all too well the toll fear of the day (a.k.a. paraskavedekatriaphobia) can take. It's been said that around $800 to $900 million dollars is traditionally lost on Friday the 13^th because some people are so crippled by fear they can't even leave the house.

But instead of fearing the day Girlawhirl's resolved to make the most of it. She's meeting Super Pals for cocktails after work and having a scary movie night, though admittedly Girlawhirl's scary movie speed is more Hitchcock than slasher flick.

So she's off to toast the day with friends sure to keep her feeling safe. It is a Friday after all. But that's not to say she won't be on shaky ground next year: the calendar shows THREE Friday the 13^ths!
