As silly as it seems, when she's hunkered down under the covers or wrapped in a blanket watching TV, Girlawhirl can actually be convinced that if a groundhog does not see his shadow on February 2nd, spring will coming soon. Whatever it takes to get her into the mindset that, yes, spring will eventually arrive, is what she needs come February and the legend of Punxsutawney Phil turns it into a bit of a celebration… Okay, Girlawhirl's not throwing a party over it, but she knows some folks that will. Thousands will gather and celebrate at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania for Ground Hog Day. It all starts pretty early in the morning – too early for Girlawhirl – with Phil himself coming out to greet the crowd around 7:30 am.
Girlawhirl intends to check in with Punxsutawney Phil and the crowd on her own time… by watching the video at the official Groundhog Day web site. She can sip her morning coffee wearing her favorite sweater and find out if spring will be coming soon.
Full details, and video of the event are available online at groundhogday.org.
