As fashion week draws to a close, it doesn't mean Girlawhirl's fashion frenzy will end with it. In fact, Girlawhirl's got something extra fashionable to look forward to this weekend – legendary actress Shirley MacLaine starring in Lifetime Television's original movie Coco Chanel, which explores the life and career of one of the most famous designers of all time… Girlawhirl is well versed in the history of Chanel – both the iconic brand and the celebrated designer. Her excitement to see Chanel's story, from her childhood in an orphanage in the French countryside to the height of fashion fame, is absolutely off the charts.
Shirley MacLaine shares the role of Chanel with French actress Barbora Bobulova, who plays a young Coco. The movie starts in 1954, when Chanel returned to fashion after a 15 year hiatus. Her first collection was not well received and she vows to find her way back to the top.
Girlawhirl can't think of a better way to wean herself off the insanity of New York Fashion Week – and back into her daily life – than cozying up on the couch Saturday night and kicking back with a little Chanel.
Coco Chanel premieres Saturday, September 13, at 8 PM on Lifetime.
