• My Best Friend's Girl—R—Alexis (Kate Hudson) is the girl of Dustin's dreams. Desperate to get her back, Dustin turns to his best friend Tank (Dane Cook). A master at seducing – and offending – women, Tank gets hired by freshly dumped guys to take their ex-girlfriends out on the worst date of their lives – an experience so horrible it sends them running back to their exes. But when Tank tries to work his magic on Alexis, she turns out to be the first girl who calls his bluff and he soon finds himself falling for his best friend's girl.
• Ghost Town—PG-13—Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais) is severely lacking in the “people skills” department. Even worse, the ghosts all want something from him, especially Frank Herlihy (Greg Kinnear), who pesters him to break up the impending marriage of his widow Gwen (Tea Leoni).
• Lakeview Terrace—PG-13—A young couple (Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington) move into their California dream home and become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship. • The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory — Author of The Other Boleyn Girl returns with her next work centered on English history. Despite the promise of sanctuary from Queen Elizabeth, when Mary, Queen of Scots, flees from rebels in Scotland, she finds herself imprisoned as a “guest” of the Earl of Shrewsbury, George Talbot and his wife Bess of Hardwick. The couple thinks housing the exiled queen will win them favor in the Elizabethan Court. Instead, they are bankrupted and their home becomes the center of rebellion activity against Queen Elizabeth, testing their loyalty to their queen and to each other. If Mary successfully seduces the Earl into her treasonous plan, or if the spy William Cecil links them to the conspiracy to free Mary, they will all face death.
• Liberty by Garrison Keillor — The small town of Lake Wobegon is in a tizzy planning for its annual Fourth of July parade. Before Clint Bunson took over the organizing six years ago, the parade was nothing more than a line of pickup truck rolling along instead of the spectacle it's become. Everyone is wrapped up in the excitement, until they hear of Bunson's plans to run for Congress. The townspeople know all too well of his “episodes” with vodka sours and his rocky marriage, not to mention his friendship with the 24-year-old who dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for last year's parade, but chose not to wear anything underneath her costume – a scandal the local gossips are still talking about.
• Indignation by Phillip Roth — It's the second year of the Korean War and young, hardworking and law-abiding, Newark, New Jersey native Marcus Messner is beginning his sophomore year on the conservative campus of Winesburg College, far away from his family and the local Newark school he originally enrolled in. Son of the local butcher, Marcus felt he had to flee the oppressive nature of his father, though his mother assures Marcus his father is just trying to protect him and is still haunted by the agony of his two brothers losing their only sons in WWII. Now the eastern city boy must discover who he is as a man amongst the sharp contrast of a quite Ohio town – all the while fearing he'll flunk out and be sent to fight overseas.
