In theaters this Wednesday:

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2—PG-13—Based on the best-selling book series about four young women; Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena are back in this sequel that catches up with them following their first year of college. Having been apart all year, their plans for summer make it even tougher for the girls to stay connected. But when it matters most, they find a way to reach out and share their experiences, and they come to value their friendship more than ever.

Pineapple Express—R—Seth Rogan plays Dale Denton, a lazy stoner who visits his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver (James Franco) to purchase a rare new strain of pot called “Pineapple Express.” When Dale witnesses a murder by a crooked cop (Rosie Perez) and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and drops his roach of “Pineapple Express” at the scene. Dale goes back to Saul to find out if the pot is rare enough that it can be traced back to him, and it is. They run for their lives with the bad guys hot on their trail trying to figure out how to kill them both.

Bottle Shock—PG-13—In 1976, a small American winery bested the exalted French wines of the time and sent the wine industry into a tizzy – putting California wines on the map for good. Based on a true story, this movie chronicles the events leading up to the famous “Judgment of Paris” tastings.

The Perfect Game—PG—Based on a true story about the 1957 Monterrey Industrials Little League team, the first non U.S. team to win the Little League World Series. A rag-tag group of boys living in poverty in Mexico discover the joys of baseball under the guidance of Cesar, an aspiring Major League Coach whose career was thwarted by discrimination. • The Assassin by Stephen Coonts An Iraqi bomb kills Huntington Winchester's son – a Harvard medical student who joined the navy out of patriotism. Losing his only child makes Winchester realize he and his privileged friends don't do enough to defend the nation against the jihadist threat. With the support of one such friend, the President of the United States, Winchester and crew organize and privately fund their own war effort. When al-Qaeda mastermind Abu Qasim discovers the identities of those in Winchester's group and targets them, burglar turned CIA agent Tommy Carmellini and his boss, Adm. Jake Grafton, set a trap involving the al-Qaeda leader's possible daughter.

• Foreign Body by Robin Cook Fourth year UCLA medical student Jennifer Hernandez finds out that her grandmother died while undergoing surgery in India from a CNN piece about medical tourism. After hearing the devastating news, she takes an emergency leave of absence from school to fly to the New Delhi hospital where her grandmother died to find out what went wrong. Maria Suarez-Hernandez raised Jennifer from infancy and their bond was unbreakable, and Jennifer soon realizes why her grandmother went to India for surgery – she couldn't afford the hip replacement state-side without insurance. But when she arrives in India for answers, Jennifer's relationship with local officials quickly deteriorates. The discovery of more unexplained deaths leads her to call in help from her mentor, Dr. Laurie Montgomery. Dr. Montgomery and her husband, Dr. Jack Stapleton, rush to Jennifer's side. As the esteemed hospital's death count grows, so do the questions, and Jennifer and Laurie learn they may have stumbled onto a conspiracy of global proportions.

• The Private Lives of Pippa Lee by Rebecca Miller At the age of fifty, Pippa Lee couldn't be more content with life. She's the wife of a respected publisher thirty years her senior, mother of successful twins and beloved friend and neighbor. But her coveted lifestyle begins to crack when her husband decides he wants to leave their Gramercy Park dwellings for a retirement community. It seems her perfect persona begins to unravel, and Pippa has a skeleton or two in the closet. By the time she was 17 she had already had an affair with a teacher, lived with a Dexedrine-addicted mother, experienced sexual stirrings with a girlfriend, and run away from home. All of that ended when she found security in a family of her own, a family that now seems to be slipping away.
