In theaters this Friday: • The X Files: I Want to Believe—PG-13—The film's storyline is being kept under wraps but suffice it to say Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are back and they're still looking for the truth. • Step Brothers—R—Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play Brennan Huff and Dale Doback, chronically unemployed middle-aged men who still live with their parents. When their parents get married and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live together as step brothers. As their narcissism and laziness threatens to tear the family apart, the two orchestrate an insane plan to bring their parents back together and might, in the process, actually get them out of the house. • American Teen—PG-13—A documentary that follows the lives of five teenagers – the jock, the princess, the geek, the heart-throb, and the rebel – in one small town in Indiana through their senior year of high school. A hit at Sundance, it's a portrait of what it's like to be an American teenager – the insecurities, the cliques, the jealousies, the first loves and heartbreaks, and the struggle to make profound decisions about the future.

New Book releases: • Damage Control by J. A. Jance — At home Joanna Brady has a newborn, a teenage daughter, a writer husband and a difficult mom to deal with. But on the job, a day in the life of this Cochise County Sheriff is even more complicated. First the car of an elderly couple careens off the side of the mountain at the Coronado National Monument. After helicopters battle a storm to retrieve the wreckage, a suicide note is found in the glove compartment. But when the couple's daughters show up ready to argue over the inheritance, Joanna thinks something else may be up. Elsewhere, the mutilated remains of a disabled woman who wandered away from her care facility turn up, and her friend – also a patient at the facility with a suspicious track record – is missing too. Now she's hot on the trial of the truth in not one, but two mysterious cases. • Moscow Rules by Daniel Silva — The death of a journalist leads Gabriel Allon to Moscow where even this seasoned agent learns a thing or two about new spycraft. The days of the bleak Cold War Moscow are long over. Today oil wealth floods the streets and critics of the ruling class are quickly silenced. A new generation of Stalinists is plotting to reclaim the empire and achieve global dominance. One such man is Ivan Kharkov, a former KGB man who built an investment empire on the rubble of the Soviet Union and who's poised to make his deadliest deal to date: delivering weapons into the hands of al-Qaeda, unless of course Allon can stop him first.
