Girlawhirl always wants to know what's next. So she searches out what's coming to movie theaters, DVD and CD players and bookstores and shares it with all of her closest Pals. And what kind of friend would she be if she didn't spread the word on her favorite sales too… Fantastic Sales: • Couture Candy: Save $10 off any jeans - with the exception of Hudson and Joe's Jeans and sale jeans. Enter discount code TENOFFJEANS at the end of checkout.
In theaters this Friday: • I Think I Love My Wife—R—Chris Rock stars in this comedy about love, marriage and temptation. He plays Richard, a happily married man, who daydreams about other women constantly. Then he faces a true test of his will and his morals when an old – and hot – friend shows up asking him for help. • Premonition—PG-13—Sandra Bullock plays a woman with a beautiful house and family – a seemingly perfect life. But it's all turned upside down when her husband is killed in a car accident. Then she wakes up the next day to find him alive – and it wasn't a dream. Now she has to figure out what's going on and why it seems like she's living the days of her life out of order. • Dead Silence—R—From the director of Saw; a young widower returns to his hometown to find out who murdered his wife and why. He uncovers the town's bloody past and the legend of Mary Shaw, a ventriloquist who went mad and was buried with her dolls, which then disappeared from the grave. They have shown up from time to time in the town over the decades – always right before a gruesome murder.
New DVD releases: • Casino Royale—Bond, James Bond is back. The latest 007 movie goes back to the beginning before Bond had his license to kill. • The Holiday—A British woman (Kate Winslet) and an American woman (Cameron Diaz) are both having man problems. So they decide to trade houses and take a holiday from their troubles and end up finding love in the process. Jack Black and Jude Law also star. • And don't miss all of your favorite TV shows released on DVD this week: Season 1: Bosom Buddies Season 2: Without A Trace I Love Lucy: Seasons 7, 8 & 9 Pretender 2001 & Pretender – Island of the Haunted New CD releases: • Back to Black—Amy Winehouse—This is Winehouse's second album and unlike the first, which had more of a jazz sound, this one is all about soul. She takes her inspiration from classic girl groups of the 1960s and adds her own modern songwriting twist on songs about love and relationships. • Live at Massey Hall—Neil Young—This is the first time Young's legendary 1971 concert at Massey Hall in Toronto has been officially released. It's Young, solo, acoustic and at his best. • Luvanmusiq—Musiq Soulchild—The fourth album from the soul/funk singer. • Dreams: The Corrs Collection—The Corrs—A collection of greatest hits from the group that blends contemporary pop with traditional Celtic music.
In book stores: • At Some Disputed Barricade by Anne Perry —The fourth book in the series about the Reavley family. Set in the trenches of WWI on the Western front, it's the story of the lives of the Reavley siblings, Judith, an ambulance driver, Joseph, a chaplain, and British intelligence officer Matthew. In this installment, the brothers each have a mystery to solve in this saga of “political intrigue and espionage.”
• Daddy's Girl by Lisa Scottoline—mousey University of Pennsylvania law professor Natalie Greco's life is turned upside-down when she accompanies a colleague to lecture at a local prison. While there, a riot breaks out and a guard is fatally wounded. As the guard lies dying, he asks Natalie to pass on a message to his wife. The message turns out to be dangerous knowledge to possess, and she is soon accused of the murder. Now, the unassuming professor is forced into hiding while she tries to clear her name and find the real culprits. • London: After a Fashion by Alistair O'Neill—author O'Neill explores London's role in haute couture as the epicenter of the fashion world today – with modern hometown designers like Vivenne Westwood, Burberry and Alexander McQueen – and centuries past. O'Neill looks at the modernization of the city, and links London's history to the development of fashion. • Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver—Every summer Irina McGovern and Lawrence, her long-time boyfriend (basically her husband minus the legal documentation), meet with good friend Ramsey Acton to celebrate his birthday. One year, after Ramsey's divorce, while Lawrence is away on business, Irina and Ramsey have dinner and drinks and Irina catches herself wanting to kiss him. From there, the book takes on two stories; one in which Irina imagines what would have happened if she did kiss her friend that night, and another where she stays with Lawrence all the while fantasizing about Ramsey.
• You Don't Love Me Yet by Jonathan Lethem—Lucinda Hoekke spends her days listening to gripe after gripe at her job at the Complaint Line. Only one repeat caller breaks up the monotony. He refuses to talk to anyone but her, and she actually enjoys his offbeat reflections and insights. Blatantly breaking the rules, the pair decides to meet and quickly fall deeply in love. In her time away from The Complaint Line, Lucinda plays bass in a struggling alternative rock band in LA. When she mentions some of her new love's musings to the band's lyricist, they finally get the hit and big break they need. Now the complainer wants in on the band, and the results are disastrous for everyone.
