With a new fall silhouette to perfect, Girlawhirl and a couple of her Superfriends broke it down…

•Tops are definitely longer; either lean and belted, or blouson but still with some sort of anchoring around the hip.
•Longer cardigans are also a big part of the picture; either chunky, as an outerwear piece, or fine, layered over a blouse, again with the option of a belt.
•And boots on the outside; necessitating a pair of super skinny jeans.

With the length of the tops and the height of the boots, the focal point of the jeans is the thigh.  And while that could be considered a scary thought, the Superfriends looked for the silver lining and decided they no longer needed to spend big bucks on jeans.

What they needed was a pair with stretchy denim, a skinny leg, so they could be tucked into boots without bulk, and a waistband height that didn’t interfere with a belt when they chose to wear one on the outside.

So one afternoon at the mall Girlawhirl and the Superfriends, all with different body types, tried on about 40 pairs of jeans, with one stipulation, they had to be under $100.  There were lots of misses and a few hits, and quite surprisingly, a version of the same jeans that looked great on all of them.

They are ultra low rise, straight leg with just a tiny flare at the bottom, super soft and stretchy denim with a slightly wider than usual contoured waistband (which means they aren’t too revealing even though they’re ultra low rise), from the Gap.  Two variations in their new straight and curvy fits.  These jeans met all of the Superfriends’ requirements.  With a dark wash and barely visible whiskering, they were perfect.

When Girlawhirl got home, she tried tucking them into her boots… no problem.   And the leg even looked great over her wedge-heeled loafers!
