Sparkle and shine at Carolina Herrera Feb 6, 2007

When the first model hit Carolina Herrera's runway, in a black shift dress with elbow length gloves and sparkling hose, Girlawhirl could see she was in for a dose of glamour. With grown up silhouettes, high waisted skirts and pants, and lots of volume, it all played out in front of her… Girlawhirl's favorite new look are the pants, high waisted, slim through the hip and thigh – or was that just the models? – and full through the rest of the leg to the ground where they flipped and flickered as the models walked. This was definitely a look, with a slim fitting blouse, she could work into her own wardrobe. Always attracted to a plaid for fall, Girlawhirl especially liked the tonal grey plaid version, but there were also solid brown, topped with a big thick belt, or a fun rectangular pattern mixing brown and blue.
On the runway, Herrera paired the full pant and blouse with a swing jacket. Voluminous skirts, now familiar to Girlawhirl and her Super Pals, were also here, but with higher and wider waistbands. Herrera turned up the volume even further with a long skirt that went from slim and sleek all the way down to a fullness at the bottom, reminiscent of a mermaid.
The sparkle that opened the show continued throughout with pretty dresses like a purple shift decorated with sequins and beads and a periwinkle blue decorated with shimmering black stars which Girlawhirl imagined would be the perfect dress to wear on a special evening.
