And yet, why move away from something so good? Thankfully, Chung didn't this season for the most part. The Spring 08 Doo.Ri collection had Chung embellishing her usual minimalist silhouette with delicate layers of netting and organza and Swarovski crystal.
There were gorgeous examples of Chung's signatures, like a '20s drop waist dress in two-toned jersey and charmeuse, a halter dress that appeared to be suspended off the body and high-waisted sailor pants and shorts proved a prevailing theme in the separates.
New developments included full knit skirts in cashmere, sweetheart necklines paneled with organza, bolero jackets and even a midriff-baring sweater or two - very 1950s, but in a subtle way.
Subtle, too, was the color palette. The palest of lilacs, almost beige with just a hint of color, bone both on its own and layered under black netting and rich aubergine and blackberry.
One of the best looks was a boxy take on the tuxedo jacket, with panels of organza alternating with gabardine. Worn as a dress, it was a shining example Chung's ability to combine contrasting textures and form in a way that sculptural yet simple, soft and absolutely smart.
