Here's how it works: through February 10^th, designers are presenting the clothes that will be in the stores this fall and winter. They've been working for months, from an inkling of an idea to sketches and samples—now it's all accessorized and pulled together with the models, the make up, and the hair, into a fabulous presentation. Store buyers and fashion editors are valued attendees; after all, if they don't love it, the collection could flop. But what seems to be even more important these days are the celebrity filled front rows. Stars come out in full force to support their favorite designers.

There are three venues in the tents at Bryant Park, organized by 7^th on Sixth and IMG, so while a show goes on in one place, in another, the next show is being prepared. People rushing from one place to another and the crowds of photographers, shooting the shows inside, and the crowds outside, all create a fashion-charged frenzy like no other. And it only gets worse when the occasional show runs late, or is scheduled somewhere else… in which case, buses, limos and, in the past, even rickshaws take the crowd to wherever they've got to go.

This year Girlawhirl will be right smack in the middle of it! She's checking out the shows and promises to report back daily from New York.
