For the first time this week, Girlawhirl's breath was taken away by something she saw on the runway. It was at the Anna Sui show, and one after another, the most perfect boots kept coming down the runway! Chunky, colorful, with medallion-like embellishments, or almost a jacquarded effect, mid calf or to the knee, Girlawhirl predicts the waiting list for these boots has already been started…

There were plenty of other things to get excited about at Sui's show. It was one of the most colorful Girlawhirl has seen, full of patterns, color mixing and great proportions. Jacquarded sweater sets, in different patterns were paired with plaid or solid voluminous skirts. The bright blue that's been popping up all week was a little deeper at Anna Sui, more of a teal color, and it blended beautifully with the browns, greys, and blacks. There was also a spicy color palette, with shades of dark orange, burgundy and browns, mixed together in prints and patterns.

Prim dresses, some with scout like collars and bows looked surprisingly edgy by mixing them with chunky heels (the shoes were as gorgeous as the boots!) and layering cardigans on top. Anna Sui always includes wonderful knitwear and sweaters in her collections and Girlawhirl still remembers the most wonderful crocheted sweater coat from a few seasons ago that she pined after for months.  And for Fall 06, there are terrific twin sets, taken over the top with great jacquard patterns or even a chunky stripe, and plenty of cardigans to wear instead of a blazer.

And Girlawhirl had to laugh, because several of the models came down the runway dragging wheeled suitcases (done up in suitably Sui patterns, of course) and duffle bags.

To Girlawhirl, it was a collection full of pieces that today's woman needs. Fun tops that can peak out of sweater jackets for the office, and then be shown off at dinner, skirts and dresses with a sense of humor, and of course, an unbelievable pair of boots!
