Cigarette pants in a black and white ombre plaid. Chunky red hand knit sweaters. A taupe sweater dresses that slips on and gets her to get ‘dressed' in an instant. Pretty party dresses she can always count on, in shimmering silk or gentle metallic jacquards. These are the clothes that Girlawhirl needs in her wardrobe, and for Fall 08, Waleed Khairzada for Cynthia Steffe delivered…
In his notes, Khairzada titled the show SUPERNATURE and discussed season-less fabrics like lightweight donegals, varnished surfaces and superfine wools and other natural fibers combined with synthetics, mixing their natural properties with technology. In any case, Girlawhirl was taken with the results, in particular a lightweight nylon jacket was quilted with circular motifs and layered over a pretty floral blouse and cigarette pant.
She could see herself shining – giving a speech in the black double knit cropped jacket with it's pleated pencil skirt. She'll meet clients in a lightweight donegal tweed suit with a jacket that's practically sculpted to her body. For parties, she's sure she'll be throwing on a silk charmeuse dress in the plum ‘wild poppy' print.
With a closet full of ideas, she's not sure how she'll get them all into her tiny closet!
