For spring, designers were in agreement that dresses are the silhouette of the season, and Girlawhirl couldn't be more thrilled. She loves the idea of stepping into or slipping on a single item and with the addition of a belt, the right shoe or just a cardigan, feeling completely "done." And best of all, with all the options in the stores, there's something to flatter everyone...

For the office, it doesn't get any easier, or more commanding, than a sheath dress. Girlawhirl feels as if she's in charge of the whole company when she shows up for a meeting wearing a simple sheath. And this spring she can enjoy a burst of color, since in addition to prints and patterns, beautiful saturated color was another runway standout.

A little less form fitting, and therefore a bit less formal than a sheath, shift dresses make perfect casual night out clothes, Saturday errand running outfits and bbq outfits. But in the right fabric, Girlawhirl can wear one to the office or to a meeting with a client.

The wrap dress is truly a classic and Girlawhirl has a special section in her closet dedicated just to them. But this spring the ease of the wrap dress, whether a true wrap or faux, is re-invigorated with all kinds of patterns and prints, at all price points.

Nothing illustrates the ladylike look of spring better than a dress that's fitted on top and full (or flared) at the bottom. It's a feminine shape that's accentuated and enhanced the waists of women for years.

Girlawhirl found these pretty patterns, and tons more, in her online shopping mall at stores like: Banana Republic, Nordstrom, Target, Boden, Gap, J.Crew, and Macy's.
