The looks on Fendi’s runabout in Milan Thursday afternoon had nothing to do with traditional cliches about trench-coat wearing killers, but they had a threatening air, the sort tough chic gals who could ice any guy who got out of line.

Composed in two essential materials, wildly expensive furs or durable wool felt and cut in a novel silhouette of short skis and round, Raglan shouldered, jackets; it made for a look that was sexy yet a tad sinister.

Moreover, the accessories had a "don't mess with this moll" sensibility - multi-studded, heavy duty, hard frame cluches and totes, that thudded when a model dropped one on the floor backstage during a pre-show snapshot.

"What I like about this bag is that it’s so hard you could kill your husband with it if was behaving badly," joked designer Silvia Fendi before the show.

As ever, the furs had that brilliantly experimental quality one associates with all things Fendi, one fur wrap coat even came tinted with real gold.

Adding to the threatening atmosphre was an ideal casting that opened with pouty Dutch mega babe Lara Stone walking through a black-as-night forest, a sylvan scene rendered leafless and dead, as if after an attack of radioactivity.
