is show-texting the latest behavior from the fashion flock? girlawhirl's seen it all over the place

Here's an interesting bit of behavior that Girlawhirl's observed in the tents: texting – and otherwise checking emails – during the shows. Not before, when there's plenty of time for chatting and catching up, but actually during the shows when the lights are down, and models are walking the catwalks… Just getting into the Salon, Tent or Promenade, finding the seat's that's been assigned to her, managing her coat, bag and other stuff so that it doesn't flop all over the seats next to her is a major task for Girlawhirl. As the crowd waits, and photographers and reporters roam the front row to snap pics or stop for interviews, the anticipation is palpably building. When the show is about to start, everyone strains to see over everyone else for the best view, cameras are lifted above the crowd and the runway usually commands the undivided attention of those in attendance.
So why would anyone, especially anyone who's had a good 40 minutes of wait-time TEXT during the show? The woman sitting next to Girlawhirl at a show the other day did precisely this, looking up just once or twice to watch the show. Girlawhirl truly didn't get it. After all, wasn't that what they were all there to see? And after so much time shuffling in and getting settled, the actual show lasts for about 7 or 10 minutes. Surely the message could have waited.
For lack of a better term, Girlawhirl's dubbed it all show-texting.
