Even though she's scaling back on her wardrobe purchases this season, Girlawhirl's still making a list of fashion must haves for spring. She's keeping an eye on the sales and making sure to keep track of what's selling fast – so she can jump in and get what she wants before it's gone – versus what she can wait to purchase. Here are a few items that have already made it to her gotta-have-it list . . .

Charmeuse-pencil-skirt.
Maybe it's the juicy orange color, or the sublime shine of the charmeuse fabric, but Girlawhirl's already got her hands on this skirt. She could have played it a little bit safer and opted for the more neutral bronze or light grey options, but she's already imagining how the shot of orange will perk up anything she pairs this with. So far, in a flurry of closet pairings, it looks great with all shades of brown and grey and plays off of print and patterned blouses. But paired with a broken in white T shirt and sandals, it hits Girlawhirl's casual-cool nail right on the head.

Summerweight-Chino-Cocktail
And she's not finished with J.Crew yet. Already a fan of the many incarnations of their cropped Capri pant, she's got her eye on the new Summerweight Chino Cocktail Capri. The fabric is crisp, with just the right amount of stretch, and the dark charcoal – a flat deep grey – is a sharp alternative to basic black for summer.

dkny-little-black-dress
For major meetings, Girlawhirl prefers a simple dress – which she sometimes pairs with a cardigan – to a suit. The line she's watching for spring? DKNY's figure flattering belted update to the little black dress.
Girlawhirl admits that she's been spending a little time in the Liz Claiborne section of her local department store lately. With Isaac Mizrahi behind the brand, there's plenty of color, feminine shapes and updated silhouettes. This pretty floral blouse, under a long belted cardigan is on her list for spring as well.

patent-platform-pumps
As for shoes, she just ordered these versatile black crinkle patent platform pumps from Michael Michael Kors. A huge fan of the combination of shiny patent and a wood heel, Girlawhirl loves that she can wear them with skirts and dresses to the office and with jeans for a night out. And the fact that they're part of Nordstrom's Shoe Clearance – through March 15, 2009 – taking the price down to $82.90 makes them an immediate must have.

Fab-Satchel
For a dash of springtime shine, the Fab Satchel from Boden is all it takes. Roomy, but not too big to be so heavy that she can't handle it, with a slick patent finish and silver tone hardware, Girlawhirl doesn't even mind that she might have to wait a few weeks for this one. | Totally-Turnlock-Teri-Tote |
If the bag above is all about color, this one is all about class. In cream, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Totally Turnlock Teri Tote is the perfect counterbalance to earthy colors and denim. Even on sale, it's definitely a budget stretcher, but Girlawhirl can't stop clicking through to “visit” it.
