New York Fashion week: info, tidbits and chatter Sep 7, 2007

• DHL is one of the sponsors of New York Fashion week, and Zac Posen's teamed with them, creating a fun red leather bag with a yellow strap that's just perfect for toting a laptop. It's a limited edition run - the bags were made in the same Italian factory that makes the bags for Posen's line -
and 100% of the proceeds from these handbags will be donated to TeachersCount, a non-profit organization that works to promote teacher appreciation. To buy, or learn more about the bag click here. • Girlawhirl wishes she could have listened in on the front row pow-wow that was taking place between Tim Gunn and Neiman Marcus Senior Vice President and Fashion Director Ken Downing at the Lela Rose show. But from across the runway, all she could do was observe... and try to read their lips! 
• The fashion flock doesn't like to wait for anything. But surprisingly, there's always quite a long line inside the tents when the folks at Havaianas share their just-for-fashion-week flip flops. Everyone gets to choose their color combo, mixing and matching the different bottoms and straps at will. But even though she was thrilled with her brown bottom-silver strap flips, it was the new styles for next spring that really caught her eye. 
• Sometimes all the glitz and glamour on the runways is a little too much for Girlawhirl's pocket book. While she loves what she does, truth be told there are very few actual runway items in her closet. But now that designers like Abaete, Alice + Olivia and Lela Rose have teamed up with Payless Shoesource, she can be sure to incorporated a little bit of the runway into her everyday life. It puts a spring in her step to slip on the same shoes that the models ware in these shows!
