70's reign supreme at tibi

Paisley, graphic patterns, and super sleek silhouettes were all a part of Amy Smilovic's Fall 08 runway show at New York Fashion Week. Girlawhirl always looks forward to the colorful prints at Tibi and as usual she loved what she saw…

Silhouettes were decidedly seventies, from the super high waisted pants, often paired with soft blouses tucked into them, to the printed shirt waist dresses with full skirts. Waists were emphasized either with belts or by virtue of waistbands. The lean pants created an impossibly leggy line. They looked almost sculpted around the hip and the legs fell straight, barely touching the ground. Girlawhirl's not sure she has the height to pull this off but it's certainly a look she'll incorporate into her fall wardrobe.

Smilovic's color palette included typical fall greys and browns. Prints and patterns along with some dresses used purple and red as ground colors. Paisleys, chevrons and optical checks added to the seventies vibe. Leg warmers and fisherman tights covered all the models legs. Capes were a bit of a surprise but they made sense considering the seventies influence of the collection.

Girlawhirl's favorite looks included everything made up in the red-orange-grey plaid fabric, a long ivory belted sweater dress, and a long black dress with a bejeweled neckline, perfect for the holiday season. She can't stop thinking about the abstract tree pattern that came down the runway in a couple of different dress silhouettes.
