Spring prints are wild at Tibi

Girlawhirl was expecting a riot of prints at Tibi, and she was thrilled with what she saw. But in a gutsy move, Amy Smilovic led off the show with solids! It kept Girlawhirl on the edge of her seat, waiting for the prints to come…

The khaki, cream and denim solid pieces at the beginning of the show were a bit of a mix of safari and military, with gold buttons, A-lines and belts. The denim pieces were cool and modern. Girlawhirl loved the great oversized shirt with full sleeves that was shown over a bathing suit in the show, but Girlawhirl knows she'll throw it on over skinny black pants and a white T. But what really caught her eye were the high waisted, full-legged denim trousers. They're so much more than a jean, and such a great alternative to all the slinky, skinny pants all over the runways.

When the prints came out, Girlawhirl, and - she suspected - the rest of the crowd, was so ready. A wild combination of green, orange and yellow, in an oversized, abstract pattern, floated down the runway in the form of a belted chiffon dress. More followed: a blue floral on white, reminiscent of a Ming vase, albeit an oversized version. Then, a fun broken vertical stripe that lead to a wide border of brightly colored flowers. And last but not least, a kaleidoscope printed dress in a trapeze silhouette. Girlawhirl still isn't sure which of these prints she'll choose for her spring wardrobe.

A perennial favorite for feminine silhouettes and pretty prints, Girlawhirl can't get enough of Tibi. And with the opening of the new shop in New York's SOHO, Girlawhirl knows it will be easier than ever to get her fashion fix.
