In contrast to the pre-show frenzy that most people imagine, the atmosphere backstage before Sunday's Tracy Reese show was surprisingly very relaxed and even orderly. Hair and make-up were almost completed by the time Tracey arrived backstage to do the run through with the models and answer some questions for reporters… Makeup Artist Mally Roncal described the look she created to go with the collection as “stormy, moody and weathered.” Tons of liner created smoky black eyes adorned with lots of mascara and heavy lashes. Berry blush highlighted high cheekbones, and more was applied around the temples and up to the forehead, into the hairline. With such a heavy eye, the lips were kept simple with a berry stain. Hair was flat on top, wavy on the bottom with one side tucked behind the ears to accommodate the hats that were tilted to the side.
Talking to reporters backstage, Tracy gave a preview of her collection as she explained the elements and change in the weather that inspired her collection. She held up a released pleat skirt with baby blue oversized rose print to illustrate the point. The same oversized rose print was also done in red and black in a draped shift and full sleeveless frock that was hanging on racks nearby. This color theme continued with black floral embroidered appliqués on the shoulders of other looks, all set and ready for her inspection before the show started. Hats and Victorian lace up boots completed the weathered look.
