earth hour takes place tomorrow at 8:30 pm
Mar 27, 2009
No matter where she is, tomorrow at 8:30 pm Girlawhirl's shutting it down. She's turning off all the lights, and anything else that runs on electrical power for an hour in order to participate in Earth Hour. And while it's not simultaneous, millions of cities, towns and people will also be turning it all off from 8:30 to 9:30 pm local time. . .

From the monuments of Paris – yes, the Eiffel Tower will go dark – to the Sydney Opera House and the Acropolis in Athens, power will be turned off. In Oslo, participants can use bicycles and pedal power to run light bulbs, but those will be the only lights burning in the city center.

It's being touted as a “vote for Earth,” with everyone voting by flipping a light switch. Girlawhirl intends to make her voice heard.

Shut it down for one hour on March 28th, 2009 8:30-9:30 pm
