energy teas from honest tea are girlawhirl's new afternoon brew
May 22, 2008

When she heard about a couple of new varieties of tea from Honest Tea, Girlawhirl wasn't sure she'd indulge. Named Jasmine Green Energy Tea and Citrus Green Energy Tea, she thought at first that her longtime go-to bottled iced tea had gone mainstream on her by introducing energy drinks…

But nothing could be further from the truth. Remaining true to their healthy-beverage-in-a-bottle organic roots, these two new varieties from Honest Tea contain the word ENERGY in their names because Honest Tea buys renewable energy credits that offset all the Carbon Dioxide emissions that are created as the teas are produced. So it's a whole different kind of energy they're talking about here.

Once Girlawhirl figured that out, there was no stopping her from giving them a try. The Jasmine variety blends green and white teas, and the Citrus contains yerba mate along with oranges and lemons. What they both – and all the other teas that Honest Tea bottles – don't contain are tons of sugar. This is why Girlawhirl knows that when she walks into a deli or other place where the case is jammed with sugary options, all she has to do is look for a bottle from Honest Tea and she's good to go.
