the film fuel could be just what america needs to kick its oil addiction
Jan 8, 2009

Everyone knows that Americans consume far more fossil fuel than the United States can produce. Most of the members of Girlawhirl's circle anxiously await the near future when wind, solar and other alternative powers replace oil, resulting in not just cleaner air and water but a revitalized economy as well. And after watching the award-winning film FUEL, Girlawhirl's more excited about a greener future than ever before…

FUEL goes beyond the politics and economics of today's Bermuda Triangle of oil, terrorism and consumption by providing tons of information and solutions. After watching the documentary, Girlawhirl knows so much more about where the real future of energy is most likely going to come from. It all begins with sustainable fuels that are already making their way into the infrastructure like biodiesel along with a combination of the aforementioned wind and solar. But what's coming next is truly amazing: using algae for fuel and even using our own waste materials to create energy!

In addition to taking on the controversy around biofuels, filmmaker Josh Tickell goes further, giving viewers a glimpse into the next steps in the environmental revolution: roof gardens that give a whole new spin to ‘locally grown,' green collar jobs, plastic bags that decompose in water, and an economy that no longer depends on oil.

Girlawhirl wants everyone she knows to have the opportunity to see FUEL. It's in a limited release right now, but she's sent a note to her local theater asking them to show it. Find out more – and how to ask your own theater to get FUEL at thefuelfilm.com.
