Sitting at her desk all day, feeling as if she's chained to her computer, Girlawhirl can't help but wish that she could sneak in a little spider solitaire now and then. But truth be told, one game always turns into another, and another, and still another, leaving her a half hour behind in her work and wishing that she had just done a little bit of online shopping during lunch instead…
But recently she found a fun lunchtime diversion, the Planet Green Game. Sponsored by Global Green USA and Starbucks and designed by Tree Media Group, it's a fun way to learn about all the things the average person can do throughout their day, in their homes, at school, and around their towns to help fight greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.
Girlawhirl earns points when she places her character in locations around the virtual town and finds ways to save energy. Along the way pop-ups show her real life examples – Global Solutions – of the ideas and concepts at work. Of course, like any good game there are bonus points and it tracks how well she's scoring with an “eco-meter.”
It's a perfect 10-minute break from her crazy workday and it will help her save both carbon emissions and dollars – because she's not shopping online during her lunch hour.
