Girlawhirl's not the only one who's heard that ten thousand steps a day is what health and fitness experts recommend, but truth be told, she has no idea if she's anywhere near the goal. Does a spinning class count? And what about a swim?
The answers can all be found at the WOMAN (Women and girls Out Moving Across the Nation) Challenge website, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to celebrate National Women's Health Week (May 13-19). There's an eight week challenge that anyone can enter, and results can be tracked using steps taken, time spent exercising or distances covered. Entrants get to choose a route, from straight across the U.S. to regional treks along the
coastlines or a vertical route from Montana to New Mexico. Weekly results are logged and progress is recorded on the route. If all the weekly goals are met, the route is completed!
And anyone looking to tune up their training can save 15% off any single item (exclusions apply) thru June 30th, at SportsAuthority.com! Click here to shop. The discount is automatically applied.
