Every now and then Girlawhirl will be on the receiving end of a comment about her sunglasses. Usually it's because she's the only one wearing them, having accidentally left them on when she went inside or descended below ground to hop a train…
Truth be told, Girlawhirl loves wearing her sunglasses. They're the favorite of all her accessories, even beating out the shoes in her closet. And they don't just make her look and feel cool; wearing sunglasses that block both UVB and UVA rays helps maintain the health of her eyes and her vision. Girlawhirl intends to live a long life and wearing sunglasses now, while she's young, can help slow the progression of both cataracts and macular degeneration, two eye diseases that affect many older people.
When she purchases a new pair of sunglasses, Girlawhirl always makes sure to check that they do in fact block both types of UV rays.
