Girlawhirl knows only too well about the slippery slope that begins with Halloween candy and ends with New Year's Day brunch. With so much to juggle during this busy holiday season - work, parties, shopping and travel - it's a wonder anyone can fit in a workout…

Girlawhirl's trainer, Tiffany Davidson, offers some helpful hints for this holiday season:

• Break it up

If you usually spend 30 minutes on the treadmill, breaking up your workout - 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon or evening - has proven to be just as effective.

Park & Walk

Park your car some distance away from the shopping mall entrance and take the stairs instead of elevators or escalators. These extra steps will amount to extra calories burned.

 Stretch! Stretch! Stretch!

In a car, on a train or a plane, be sure to get up and stretch. Basic neck, shoulder, arm, wrist, knee and ankle rolls combined with side bends and twists will lubricate your joints. If you are traveling by car, take a break and walk around the parking lot. If you are on a plane or train, be sure to periodically stroll up and down the aisles.

Travel light

Leave the kettle bells at home and get creative. When you reach your final destination, invest in a couple of cans of food so you can resume your strength training. Remember to put your own body weight to use as well with squats, lunges and push-ups.

 Eat, Drink and be Merry

Before you set out on your travels, pack some healthy snacks and be sure to drink plenty of water throughout each day.

Listen to your body

Your body will tell you when to eat and when to push away from the table. Keep moving, stay well nourished and remember… everything in moderation. ENJOY!
