A Lampe Berger does more than keep Girlawhirl's home smelling great
Apr 19, 2007

Girlawhirl loves to walk into a room filled with a soothing scent. It immediately sets her at ease. She's a big fan of reed diffusers to fill her home with subtle aromas. Recently, at a Super Pal's posh pad, she commented on how lovely it smelled, but added she didn't see where the aroma originated from. That's when her Super Pal pointed to the beautiful, vintage perfume bottle-looking object on the end table. But Girlawhirl had never heard of a perfume bottle that filled an entire room with fragrance…

Well, it seems Girlawhirl was a bit ahead of herself. Instead of spontaneously spritzing the air, the Lampe Berger vintage inspired crystal container is actually a beautifully disguised fragrant oil burning diffuser. It immediately reminded her of the oh-so-elegant perfume bottles on her grandmother's vanity that she used to love to play with as a child.

But these beautiful burners aren't just about pretty scents and cool crystal. In fact, Lampe Berger has been known as Europe's original home fragrance diffuser since the first one was made in Paris in 1898. Using the principles of catalytic combustion, the diffuser not only fills the air with beautiful fragrances, it actually purifies the air by eliminating molecules that create offensive odors (like tobacco, fish and pet odors) and it kills up to 68% of airborne bacteria.

Girlawhirl couldn't believe the elegant glass jar could do all of that. Her Super Pal explained that she just pours the scented oil into the jar, lights the small stone at the top (which she has to watch because it burns a very high flame), and after a minute or two blows it out. Then the hot stone goes to work, drawing in the unclean air, purifying it and filling it with fragrance – just a few minutes will fill a whole room. Then her Super Pal puts the cap back on to seal the scent in the bottle until the next time she thinks her living room is in need of a perfumed pick-me-up.

There are so many scents to choose from, Girlawhirl could go home-scent happy! She's also heard Queen Elizabeth II is a long-time Lampe Berger collector, making her new find truly fit for a queen.
