Helping a friend plan a trip to Italy recently, Girlawhirl was asked many questions. How many days should her Super Pal spend in Rome, Florence, and Milan? Where are the best shopping streets? Outlets? Restaurants? Those questions she could answer off the top of her head, but there was one that she had to log on to research…
That question involved train transportation. More specifically, train schedules. Sure she knew that in Italy, like most of Europe, hopping on a train is one of the easiest ways to get around. And with high-speed tracks and trains almost everywhere, it's also often faster than a short flight because of all the time wasted getting to the airport early and waiting for luggage on the other end.

So while she knew that the EuroStar train takes just over 1 1/2 hours to go from Rome's Termini Station to Florence, checking the schedule on europeonrail.com helped her Super Pal plan her days more carefully. Being able to see the schedule, and knowing that there are hourly trains took the pressure off, and left her pal to spend time on the more important aspects of the trip: sightseeing and shopping!
