Between the shadows of the Beverly Center and the lifestyle mecca of The Grove, on the cusp of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, is Third Street, one of the hippest, hottest and most diverse and eclectic shopping streets in Los Angeles… Girlawhirl loves the mix of shops; great boutiques that cover it all from designer clothes at Noodle Stories and shoes at Sigerson Morrison to infinitely wearable and easier on the wallet styles at Meg, Milk, Hillary Rush, Ethel and most of the other boutiques. It's like walking through a magazine layout, since these are the shops that she's always reading about.
Housewares, like gorgeous colorful glass and ceramics, jewelry and even books are treated like the works of art they are, in a gallery-like setting at OK. Zipper takes it one step further by sponsoring art exhibitions in the store, with this summer's show featuring five Los Angeles artists who work in such diverse disciplines as wood, jewelry, photography, clay and conté. New Stone Age had Girlawhirl remembering all the countries she's visited with its international mix of items, and Plastica keeps it cool, fun and funky with… plastic.
Burning candles, made from a wax that is so pure that it can be used as a body moisturizer, can be found at Milena's Boutique. The full tour includes a lot of sniffing and a bit of celebrity who's who, as Milena shares her secrets of who loves the Tuberose vs. the Ruby Red
Girlawhirl tries to stop for lunch at Doughboys, where salads, soups and sandwiches never disappoint. The ‘After School Special' is an adult version of the classic grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. And, no matter what's on the menu, she always saves room for their famous Red Velvet Cake. And if she starts the day early, breakfast at Toast is always on her agenda.
Third Street is Girlawhirl's idea of a perfect Los Angeles shopping day!

Grapefruit scents. Girlawhirl's not telling, but if she's ever invited to the California Governor's mansion, she has an idea of what to bring.
