At first Girlawhirl didn't like the idea of it. When airlines announced that food would be available for purchase during certain flights she was irritated, chalking it up as another manifestation of the complete loss of control she often feels when traveling in addition to the continuing list of amenities that are no longer free. Truth be told, Girlawhirl rarely leaves in-flight eating to chance. She stocks her carry-on with Lara Bars®, nuts and even a special treat or two. And if she's en route to Europe, Asia or another far flung destination,

And she was thrilled to find that for under $8 she could eat well, probably even better, than her usual carry on stash. Sure there was a sandwich on a croissant option she'd never consider, but healthy choices, ranging from hummus and vegetable sticks, a fruit and cheese platter to a chicken salad with lentils and goat cheese all caught her attention. In the end, her choice was fresh and tasty, and after landing she hit the ground running, not over stuffed or starved.
