american business women's day is today! Sep 22, 2008

Girlawhirl loves her career, and she always appreciates that she has the choice to be whatever she wants to be. She loves the fact that if she decided to shake-off this lifestyle and reinvent herself as something totally different she could. And she's keenly aware that even in her mother's day, choices and opportunities for women in business were limited. That's why she's taking a minute or two today – American Business Women's Day – to appreciate all the hard working women that went before her and paved the way … Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the day set aside by President Ronald Reagan in 1986 to celebrate working women like Girlawhirl. Citing the “significant” contribution American women have made to the domestic and global economy, and the drive to “expand their horizons, diversify their skills, and set high personal and career goals,” President Reagan officially proclaimed September 22nd American Business Women's Day.
Girlawhirl's certainly glad he did, if for no other reason than to remind her to take a moment to look around and be grateful for the work women like her put in every day – many while balancing the duties of bread-winner, wife and mother all at the same time.
So Girlawhirl's making sure to send a note to each and every businesswoman she knows, or even better a great ecard.
