Worldwide, 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water. Worse, 2.6 billion don't have basic sanitation. Even more startling, 5,000 children die every day from diseases caused by unclean water. All of this adds up to a dire need for help, and Girlawhirl can't wait to get involved. Her Super Pal – who always seems to have her finger on the pulse of everything – knew exactly the outlet for Girlawhirl to help: WaterAid.

WaterAid is an international, non-governmental, organization with the sole goal of providing “safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.” Working with local governments, WaterAid supplies communities with low-cost, sustainable equipment and tools to create clean drinking water. WaterAid also works to lobby governments to protect people's rights to safe, affordable water.

Girlawhirl's Super Pal isn't the only one getting behind the UK based charity. The Police have promised to donate a portion of the profits from their highly anticipated reunion tour to WaterAid, and H&M has committed 10% of the profits from its new bohemian-chic Kylie Minogue beachwear line set to debut this spring. Giralwhirl knows where her beach wardrobe is coming from this season.

To participate in water relief a little closer to home, Girlawhirl purchased a “virtual bottle of water” from New York based charity: water. By buying just one $20 virtual bottle she's guaranteeing someone safe drinking water for 15 years. To up the ante, she can buy a whole case that will accomplish the same for 24 people. Now that's an investment with some serious return!
