Girlawhirl, after a week or so of getting settled into her new office, is just getting a handle on her new responsibilities. There are a few things that she can't wait to get going on, and others that she already knows she is going to dread. But one thing that she's looking forward to is a little bit of increased visibility within her industry… With all the congratulations came many handshakes and Girlawhirl was the recipient of so many different kinds: from super strong to strangely weak, too long, too pumped, and everything in between. It got her thinking about what kind of a shaker she was, and with one thing leading to another, she had to do a little checking around.
In an article written by Kate Lorenz at CareerBuilder.com, image consultant Jill Bremmer says, “People make an immediate judgment about your character and level of confidence through your handshake.”
Even if she may not be supremely confident in her new position, Girlawhirl knows that when meeting clients for the first time, she'll have to come across like a pro.
It sounds silly, but after a week of being on the receiving end of so many kinds of handshakes, Girlawhirl practiced hers on a few of her Super Pals. With her new handshake ‘down,' she can start thinking about outfits, accessories, and agendas.
