In her article, ‘Warning: Social Networking Can Be Hazardous to Your Job Search,' she outlines a few disastrous examples of job candidates whose postings on sites like MySpace.com cost them job offers, or worse, put their current jobs at risk.
One point that Lorenz makes in the article that really hit home with Girlawhirl is: ‘everything on the internet is archived, and there is no eraser!' Girlawhirl had to google herself, just to make sure there wasn't anything out there that she needed to be aware of. Feeling safe, for the moment, she took special note of the tips offered to manage her online image… just in case.
