Work and Girlawhirl's waistline
Girlawhirl finds some weight loss advice for women at careerbuilder.com
Sep 20, 2006

Girlawhirl's started to get settled into her new position in the office. But she's found that managing the people who report to her and training a new hire or two have taken a big bite out of the time she needs to get her own work done. That's led to a new schedule that includes one or two late nights a week and an occasional early morning arrival…

This new, and not entirely welcomed, schedule has cut into her gym time. And that, combined with a lack of willpower as her usual dinnertime passes and the vending machine beckons, has added a few pounds to Girlawhirl's waistline. It turns out that she's not the only employee who's gained weight.

“Finding time to cook healthy meals and hit the gym after a long work day can be challenging,” according to Rosemary Haefner, Vice President of Human Resources for CareerBuilder.com. In her article, ‘Survey: Almost Half of Workers Have Gained Weight on the Job,' Haefner says that “46 percent of workers report they have gained weight since starting their current jobs,” and “80 percent of workers report their companies don't offer gym passes, workout facilities or weight loss programs to help them stay in shape, up from 73 percent last year.”

Girlawhirl found great tips on how to combat the office bulge in Haefner's article. So, with a new road map for keeping unwanted pounds at bay, she is ready to take on the late nights and early mornings and keep climbing the corporate ladder—her favorite way to burn calories!

There's waist whittling advice from Rosemary Haefner and CarreerBuilder.com in the article 'Survey: Almost Half of Workers Have Gained Weight on the Job.'
